Although I am a genuine Dutch Girl at heart, I’ve always had a thing for flamenco. Not dancing, because I feel I certainly wouldn’t make anyone happy with that, but because I enjoy crocheting in flamenco-style! I’ve been crocheting Spanish dancers for bags, garlands, necklaces and egg cozies ever since my daughter, who is now 25 years old, was little.

And all at once, Spring is back again! Rather shyly at first, but then it seems to pick up speed and you suddenly find everything around you is in full bloom. Each year I am amazed by the variety of colors and scents, and by just how special it all feels.

Now that the scenery outside is changing into beautiful shades of orange and yellow, the autumn inspiration is starting to bubble up. My husband, a real mushroom fan, shows me the most special species. It’s unbelievable how they can vary in shape, color and size! Sometimes he brings the edible mushrooms home, which gives me new cooking inspiration as well. Cooking and crocheting, I can't get enough of it!

I have always dreamt about writing a book, not just a crochet book, but one filled with happy inspiration like nature, delicious food, beautiful places, nice music, special people and of course my handcraft, especially my ‘happy stola’.
